A big year of little changes in 2025

If you have read any of my previous New Year’s posts, you know that I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions anymore because, for me, THEY DON’T WORK.

New Year's Baby in Top HatI rely on what I call my New Year’s plan. In the past, I have tended to make big plans and commitments. But all too quickly, even these begin to seem difficult to keep up with. Nothing feels more like failing than trying something for 3 days in a row only to decide it’s way too much. This year, I’m all about making lots of little changes.

Why just the little changes? Because they are easy to slip in here and there. Sticking to a manageable commitment is, well, manageable. You get an easy reward, and that is encouraging. Plus, more often than not, you’re inspired to do even more than your promised little task, but if you don’t, then no problem. You just do the minimum and still check off the box!

For instance, I’ve added 5 minutes of yoga every morning to help me get the day going. Waking up behind schedule, it is easy to talk yourself out of an hour-long workout, but not 5 minutes. That you could even handle while you make your morning coffee! I still have my regular practice as time allows, but I have found the easy morning routine makes the whole day run smoother.

Richard and I have committed to taking the dogs on a short walk every evening after work—also an easy accomplishment. Although we are often too tired or loaded down with after-work to-dos, a quick excursion requires little time or effort and means the world to our pups!

Small tasks are easily sprinkled throughout the day and in total, make a meaningful impact.

I hope 2025 turns out to be amazing for you. I’m shooting for a fantastic year ahead, one small commitment at a time!
